Since we're going to read from the current stream position anyway, the
`max_len` should be the size of the file minus the current position
(still catering to potentially filtered streams). We must, however,
make sure to cater to the file position being beyond the actual file
size.
While we're at, we also fix the step size in the comment, which is 8K.
A further optimization could be done for unfiltered streams, thus
saving that step size, but 8K might not be worth it.
Closes GH-7693.
Make sure to destroy the old value only after assigning the new
one. Otherwise we may try to double free, e.g. if GC runs during
this dtor.
This caused an assertion failure in phpro/grumphp and is likely
the cause for bug #81603 as well.

Modify dns_get_record to test for records result based on dns_errno to
accommodate modern FreeBSD, for which res_nsearch() does not update
h_errno directly. Add new php_dns_errno macro, and have it consult
statp->res_h_errno when OS has res_nsearch().

While it may not be desired, `DateInterval::$f` supports negative
values, at least with regard to calculations. We still need to guard
from assigning double values which are out of range for signed 64bit
integers (which would be undefined behavior). zend_dval_to_lval() does
this by returning `0` instead of triggering UB. This way we can avoid
setting the invalid marker, which doesn't work as expected anyway.
We must not do that only for unserialization, but also when the property
is set in the first place.
We need to adapt some of the existing tests wrt. this behavior. In
particular, we check for an arbitrary value in bug79015.phpt, to cater
to differences between 32bit and 64bit architectures.
Closes GH-7575.
Don't allow calling fclose() on the stream while in the user
filter callback. This is basically the same protection as xp_ssl
streams use during callback invocations.
There are more issues in this general area (e.g. stack overflow
on stream_filter_remove), but this addresses freeing the stream
during the filter callback invocation at least.
If we assemble a zend_string manually, we need to end it with a NUL
byte ourselves.
We also fix the size calculation for that zend_string; there is no need
for the extra byte for each part, and we don't have to multiply by two,
since we're using DnsQuery_A(), not DnsQuery_W () (in which case we
would have to do the character set conversion, anyway). This avoids
over-allocation, and the need to explicitly set the string length.
Finally, we use the proper access macro for zend_strings.
Closes GH-7427.
The stream position is not related to the buffer, and needs to be
updated for non-seekable streams as well. The erroneous condition
around the position update is a relict of an old commit[1].
The unexpected test expectation is due to bug #81345.

When flushing the stream filters actually causes data to be written to
the stream, we need to update its position, because that is not done by
the streams' write methods.

Adding two `zend_long`s may overflow, and casting `size_t` to
`zend_long` may truncate; we can avoid this here by enforcing unsigned
arithmetic.

That happens on Travis s390x for whatever reasons. Thus, instead of
checking for `fallocate -h`, we attempt the real allocation and skip if
that fails.
When mapping the file, we need to pass the proper `dwFileOffsetHigh`
instead of `0`.

While resolving the path, the last step will reduce it down to ""
(an empty string) and realpath() will resolve this to getcwd().
If open_basedir contains the CWD, then that means open_basedir
will be bypassed for paths that don't have any components that
exist (if one of the components exists, then we abort the realpath
loop at that point).

Firstly, we must not forget to set appropriate error codes for "manual"
checks in `virtual_file_ex()`.
Secondly, we must not call `php_error_docref2()` for warnings regarding
unary functions; thus, we introduce `php_win32_docref1_from_error()`.

When opening HTTP streams, and reading the headers, we currently
discard header lines longer than `HTTP_HEADER_BLOCK_SIZE` (1024 bytes).
While this is not generally forbidden by RFC 7230, section 3.2.5, it
is not generally allowed either, since that may change the "message
framing or response semantics".
We thus fix this by allowing arbitrarily long header lines.
Closes GH-6720.
So far, `SendText()` simply separates potential email address lists at
any comma, disregarding that commas inside a quoted-string do not
delimit addresses. We fix that by introducing an own variant of
`strtok_r()` which caters to quoted-strings.
We also make `FormatEmailAddress()` aware of quoted strings.
We do not cater to email address comments, and potentially other quirks
of RFC 5322 email addresses, but catering to quoted-strings is supposed
to solve almost all practical use cases.

First, the `bzip2.compress` filter has the same issue as `zlib.deflate`
so we port the respective fix[1] to ext/bz2.
Second, there is still an issue, if a stream with an attached
compression filter is flushed before it is closed, without any writes
in between. In that case, the compression is never finalized. We fix
this by enforcing a `_php_stream_flush()` with the `closing` flag set
in `_php_stream_free()`, whenever a write filter is attached. This
call is superfluous for most write filters, but does not hurt, even
when it is unnecessary.

We remove the arbitrary restriction to `INT_MAX`; it is superfluous on
32bit systems where `ZEND_LONG_MAX == INT_MAX` anyway, and not useful
on 64bit systems, where larger files should be readable, if the
`memory_limit` is large enough.

That bug report originally was about `parse_url()` misbehaving, but the
security aspect was actually only regarding `FILTER_VALIDATE_URL`.
Since the changes to `parse_url_ex()` apparently affect userland code
which is relying on the sloppy URL parsing[1], this alternative
restores the old parsing behavior, but ensures that the userinfo is
checked for correctness for `FILTER_VALIDATE_URL`.

Check open_basedir after the fallback to the system's temporary
directory in tempnam().
In order to preserve the current behavior of upload_tmp_dir
(do not check explicitly specified dir, but check fallback),
new flags are added to check open_basedir for explicit dir
and for fallback.
Closes GH-6526.
To avoid that `parse_url()` returns an erroneous host, which would be
valid for `FILTER_VALIDATE_URL`, we make sure that only userinfo which
is valid according to RFC 3986 is treated as such.
For consistency with the existing url parsing code, we use ctype
functions, although that is not necessarily correct.
In the case of a stream with no filters, php_stream_fill_read_buffer
only reads stream->chunk_size into the read buffer. If the stream has
filters attached, it could unnecessarily buffer a large amount of data.
With this change, php_stream_fill_read_buffer only proceeds until either
the requested size or stream->chunk_size is available in the read buffer.

Reading from a stream may return greater than zero, but nonetheless the
stream's EOF flag may have been set. We have to cater to this
condition by setting the close flag for filters.
We also have to cater to that change in the zlib.inflate filter:
If `inflate()` is called with flush mode `Z_FINISH`, but the output
buffer is not large enough to inflate all available data, it fails with
`Z_BUF_ERROR`. However, `Z_BUF_ERROR` is not fatal; in fact, the zlib
manual states: "If deflate returns with Z_OK or Z_BUF_ERROR, this
function must be called again with Z_FINISH and more output space
(updated avail_out) but no more input data, until it returns with
Z_STREAM_END or an error." Hence, we do so.

References to null-serializations are stored as null, and as such

Reminds me that we really need to deprecate the mess that is
Serializable.
In the somewhat unlikely case that `zend_fstat()` fails, we must not

`\r\n` does only terminate a header, if not followed by `\t` or ` `.
We have to cater to that when determining the end position of the
respective headers.
Closes GH-6420.
As of commit 81b2f3e[1], `parse_url()` accepts URLs with a zero port,
but does not report that port, what is wrong in hindsight.
Since the port number is stored as `unsigned short` there is no way to
distinguish between port zero and no port. For BC reasons, we thus
introduce `parse_url_ex2()` which accepts an output parameter that
allows that distinction, and use the new function to fix the behavior.
The introduction of `parse_url_ex2()` has been suggested by Nikita.
