- remove magic_quotes_gpc, magic_quotes_runtime, magic_quotes_sybase
...
(calling ini_set('magic_....') returns 0|false
- get_magic_quotes_gpc, get_magic_quotes_runtime are kept but always return false
- set_magic_quotes_runtime raises an E_CORE_ERROR

- If you ask me both (expat and libxml) are not really accurate about byte
...
positions and columns...however the line number information is now
correct for both so for the moment we live with the situation that they
return different byte and column information.

tags need to be UTF8-decoded as well.

guys, case_folding can only work when the parser target encoding equal (or
compatible) with the locale setting of the system as we use toupper to "do it"
