Para que la función <function>mail</function> esté disponible,

es necesario que PHP tenga acceso al servicio <literal>sendmail</literal>
|
|
en el servidor durante la compilación. Si se utiliza otro programa de correo,
|
|
como <productname>qmail</productname> o <productname>postfix</productname>,
|
|
asegúrese de utilizar las API correctas. PHP comenzará a buscar sendmail en el <envar>PATH</envar>,
|
|
y luego, en los siguientes directorios:
|
|
<literal>/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/etc:/etc:/usr/ucblib:/usr/lib</literal>.
|
|
Se recomienda encarecidamente tener sendmail disponible en el <envar>PATH</envar>. Además,

el usuario que compile PHP debe tener los permisos necesarios para acceder al ejecutable sendmail.
