@ocramius - I'm not sure if this is viable, but based on the comments from people it could be helpful to have this fixed in 5.3? I'm not 100% sure whether PHP or Doctrine is at fault here?

Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
