Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?

2.5.0 has been released over four months ago, and there has been a number of critical fixes in the meantime. For my use case, it is mostly this one:
977f0a5b5cwithout it, data might get silently lost during merge(), which prevents me from upgrading, because the fix is not yet released. Is there any timeline when we might expect a point release?
